Anna Handelsman is currently a member of Ad Deum Company! She began her journey with dance at the age of six when her figure skating coach suggested she take ballet lessons to improve her grace and technique on the ice. Growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio she trained at various dance schools. By the time she was in high school she had fallen in love with not only ballet but also modern and contemporary dance. She danced competitively up until college when she became a member of the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company’s second company. During this time she also received her BFA in dance from Wright State University. Anna has had the honor of working with talents such as Jon Lehrer of Lehrer Dance, Shannon Bramham of Koresh, Broadway choreographer Greg Graham, and many more. Since graduating, she spent the summers of 2014 and 2015 dancing and then apprenticing for the iconic River North Dance Chicago under the direction of Frank Chaves, Sara Bibik, and Patrick Simoniello. She has enjoyed performing and teaching throughout the Cincinnati and now Houston areas and is grateful to be performing with Friendswood Contemporary Ballet.
